TomPetty.com to Air Mike Campbell Series

On April 3, www.tompetty.comwill begin to air what is likely to be one of the most insightful and exciting music documentaries of the year – Mike Campbell: The Guitars. For the series, Campbell, who has played for years with not only Petty, but Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, and Don Henley, will discuss his collection of guitars along with segments of his accomplished career in music. Campbell is well-known among guitar players as one of the true greats of his generation, including George Harrison, who once mused that when it came to playing slide guitar, “there’s Ry Cooder, then there’s Mike Campbell.” The 15-part series will be initially limited to fan club members only, although hopefully the showcase will be made available to a larger audience in the future.

Campell, as mentioned in Long After Dark’s post on March14, is a personal favorite and the inspiration for the logo which adorns the top of the page. Being able to watch him as he discusses both his craft and extensive collection will be a special treat throughout the next several weeks
“There are only six string and twenty frets, but there’s a whole world of mystery and inspiration in this instrument.” – Mike Campbell, Mike Campbell: The Guitars Trailer
