Taylor Hawkins To Play Iggy Pop In CBGB Film
Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has been the latest star to be added to the roster of the intriguing film CGBG. The movie, which will focus on the legendary venue that formerly resided on Manhattan’s Bowery Street, will also include Johnny Golecki (The Big Bang Theory, Roseanne) as Terry Ork and Mickey Sumner (The Borgias) as the iconic songstress Patti Smith.
The film, which will center on the venue which showcased some of the most influential artists of the 20th Century, will start production at the end of the month. Acts like The Ramones, Johnny Thunder and The Heartbreakers, The Police, and the Beastie Boys all played at CBGB (Country, Bluegrass, Blues).
Stana Katic and Alan Rickman have also been announced as cast members.
Hawkins, who like Iggy Pop frequently plays shirtless, isn’t the only Foo Fighter who has been linked to a project this year. Front man Dave Grohl has been rumored to be involved with comedian Dana Gould on an FX show about a band that finds itself on a therapist’s couch while flirting with superstardom. The extra kick comes through the therapist finding himself on the brink of divorce. Count me in on both.
