Unreleased Michael Jackson Track, “Don’t Be Messin’ Round” Leaks Online
One of Michael Jackson’s greatest albums and the follow-up to his seminal Thriller, 1987’s Bad, hits its silver anniversary on August 31. The record, which spawned an incredible nine singles that included “Bad,” “Smooth Criminal,” and “Dirty Diana” has sold well over 30,000,000 copies to date.
In May, the Michael Jackson estate announced that the album will receive an uberdeluxe treatment at a later point this summer as a three-cd, one-dvd package dubbed Bad 25. The dvd will capture a 1988 performance at London’s heralded Wembley Stadium and a cd of that concert will become Jackson’s first-ever live album.
Among the unreleased tracks to make it onto Bad 25 is “Don’t Be Messin’ Round,” which leaked online recently. The song, which seems to have been left in the demo stages, seems to be a close relative of Jackson’s ex-labelmate Martha Reeves and the Vandellas’ “Dancing In the Streets” with influences from the Caribbean thrown in. Although a good track, it is easy to see why it didn’t quite make the cut onto Bad.
