Butch Vig To Put Out Country Album With Emperors of Wyoming
Is there anything Butch Vig can’t do? The prolific producer and drummer extraordinaire recently announced that his newfound side project, the country band Emperors of Wyoming, will release their self-titled debut record on September 17th. The Emperors of Wyoming, which were initially formed in 2009, is also comprised of Phil Davis (from Vig’s former band Fire Town), Franklin Lee Anderson, and Pete Anderson.
Vig, who is best known for drumming for Garbage and producing seminal albums by Nirvana, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Muse, and the Smashing Pumpkins, will man the drum kit for the band. The Emperors of Wyoming first released a track last August as part of Johnny Boy Would Love This… A Tribute to John Martyn, covering “Bless the Weather.” Two advance tracks “I Never Got Over You” and “Cornfield Palace are available for streaming below this post. If either of these two tracks, particularly the stellar slide guitar work and drumming on “Never Got Over You” are any indication, this could be a very enjoyable side project from Vig:
