The Killers “Runaways” With Battle Born
On September 18th, the Killers will end a four-year album drought with Battle Born, their fourth studio record. Their first record since 2008’s Day & Age, Battle Born promises to be one of the biggest albums of 2012 and another major phase in the career of one of the most popular bands of the past decade.
If anything can be ascertained from the record’s first single, “Runaways,” which was released on July 10, Brandon Flowers, et. al haven’t lost a thing in their break. The Killers seem to have returned to the styles of their debut record Hot Fuss, where they laid the foundation of their growing discography. Flowers is back in top form lyrically and vocally while the band has retained with their catchy guitar and synth hooks to fill out the anthemic arrangements. The lyrics created by Flowers for “Runaways” seems to possess the imagery of Gaslight Anthem front man Brian Fallon with a shade of Journey,
“Blonde hair blowing in the summer wind/blue eyed girl playing in the sand/I’ve been on a tram for a little while/but that was the night she broke down and held my hand.”
It’s great to have The Killers back, we’ve missed you.
