Chiddy Bang, Frank Stallone Take You Back On Live From Daryl’s House
Episode 56 of the monthly webcast Live from Daryl’s House contained a heavy Philadelphia flavor, bringing together Frank Stallone and Chiddy Bang as the guest of Daryl Hall and his band. To top it all, a guy named Vito made the meat.
Shot from Hall’s Duchess County, New York residence, Live From Daryl’s House has brought in Philadelphians before. Todd Rundgren, Tony Luke, and the Bacon Brothers have all appeared on the show. Chiddy Bang, an alternative hip-hop group, formed while members Chidera Anamege and Noah Beresin attended Drexel University. After releasing three EPs and a series of mix tapes over the last three years, the group released their first full-length album, Breakfast, this February.
Hall and Chiddy Bang cut takes of their unbelievably catchy tracks “Opposite of Adults” “Mind Your Manners,” “Talking To Myself,” and “Ray Charles.” LFDH 56 was Long After Dark’s first listen of the Philly duo, who passed with flying colors. I only wished they had come across this corner of the web sooner.
Frank Stallone is best known as the brother of Sylvester Stallone, although he carved a moment of fame for himself as a member of the streetcorner singers who crooned “Take You Back” in the film Rocky. Stallone joined Hall and Chiddy Bang as they sang the a cappella track from the classic film that was interspersed with some free styling from Anamege. The group performed a soulful cut of Hall’s early career hit, “Fall In Philadelphia” in the same manner, giving yet another new aspect of Hall’s music. The episode was wrapped up with “She Got Me Bad,” from 2003’s Do It For Love.
Live from Daryl’s House will come back next month, where British recording artist Rumer is believed to be the next guest.
