Jay-Z, Pearl Jam Join Up For “99 Problems” at Made In America Festival
Chalk this one up into the “didn’t see it coming” column. Aside from Jay-Z unsurprisingly bringing out Kanye West to add electricity to the Made In America festival this weekend, the rapper lent his talents to another big moment on Sunday evening, when he joined up with the Seattle rock band Pearl Jam for a performance of his Black Album single “99 Problems” towards the end of the group’s set.
This is not the first time Jay-Z has joined up with a rock band for a performance of “99 Problems,” as he had previously joined forces with jam band Phish at a New York City show. For Pearl Jam, this may be their most out-of-genre moment since they performed Devo’s “Whip It” in the final show at Philadelphia’s Spectrum.
