Hard Rock Calling 2012

Hyde Park’s annual Hard Rock Calling festival has seen a slew of the biggest names in music over the last several years, making it one of the most popular concert gatherings of every year. The 2012 lineup was no different, drawing Paul Simon, Tom Morrello, Allison Krauss, Iggy Pop, John Fogerty, Dawes, and Bruce Springsteen. Many of these performances made it into Palladia/VH1’s condensed re-broadcast of Hard Rock Calling, including songs from Simon’s Graceland and Soundgarden’s “Fell On Black Days.”
The highlight of the condensed video is undoubtedly the semi-infamous microphone-killing debacle of Paul McCartney with Springsteen and the E-Street Band, who capped another headlining gig of Hard Rock Calling with “I Saw Her Standing There” and “Twist and Shout.” After watching the video, the event seems to be less publicly dramatic than it had been made it out to be through several news services. The debacle is even a bit humorous as Springsteen makes light of the situation following a snippet of “Goodnight Irene” and his realization that even he has bosses.
The stream of Hard Rock Calling 2012, make sure to check out the E-Street Band’s Nils Lofgren’s typically sensational performance of “Because The Night”:
